Stories from the Classroom

Every screening of Plasticósfera is an invitation to think differently about our relationship with the environment. While every school experiences the documentary in its own way, many have gone a step further—transforming inspiration into tangible action.

From eliminating single-use plastics and launching environmental campaigns to participating in scientific research and mobilizing entire communities, these schools demonstrate that education can become a powerful catalyst for change.

Here are just a few of the many success stories that continue to inspire us.

EPIC School

From Awareness to Action

After experiencing Plasticósfera, EPIC School took decisive action by eliminating single-use plastics from its school store and organizing its first family sustainability event, engaging students, teachers and parents in building more environmentally responsible habits.

The initiative demonstrated that meaningful change extends beyond the classroom, inspiring entire families to become part of the solution.

Trinus School

Young Scientists for the Planet

Inspired by the documentary, students from Trinus School went beyond learning about plastic pollution—they became part of the scientific process.

Working alongside researchers, secondary students participated in microplastic studies at Lake Atitlán, contributing to citizen science while gaining firsthand experience in environmental research.

The project showed students that science is not confined to laboratories—it is a powerful tool for understanding and protecting the natural world.

Nuestra Señora de la Asunción

Changing the Way We Consume

At Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, the documentary became the starting point for rethinking everyday consumption.

Students embraced circular economy practices, exploring ways to reduce waste, extend the life of materials and make more responsible choices both at school and at home.

The experience reinforced an essential lesson: sustainability begins with the decisions we make every day.

Mao School

A Community United Through Art

Environmental education found a new stage at Colegio Mao through ImaginAmar, an original musical production inspired by the values promoted in Plasticósfera.

The event brought together more than 5,000 people, demonstrating how storytelling, music and creativity can mobilize entire communities around environmental awareness.

Liceo Guatemala

Building Environmental Leadership

Following the educational program, Liceo Guatemala established student environmental committees and incorporated environmental initiatives into its annual school agenda.

By empowering students to lead projects throughout the year, the school transformed environmental awareness into long-term leadership and action.

These stories represent only a small sample of the impact created through Plasticósfera.

Every year, thousands of students participate in screenings across Guatemala, discovering that environmental challenges are not problems for someone else to solve—they are opportunities for each of us to make a difference.

Because when young people are empowered with knowledge, they don't just imagine a better future.

They begin creating it.
